Pia Kuykhoven creates hand-built ceramic works inspired by memory, home, and the quiet beauty of everyday rituals. Growing up in Port Adelaide, Pia found early creative inspiration in her great aunt’s rambling cottage garden, where heirloom china, flowers, and shared moments became lasting influences on her practice.
Working from her backyard studio, Pia draws on a deep connection to gardening and family history. Domestic forms such as cups, platters, and vases appear throughout her work, often adorned with expressive floral motifs that evoke nostalgia and familiarity.
Bold, tactile, and intuitive, her ceramics celebrate the handmade through layered textures, visible marks, and organic imperfections. Rooted in ideas of nurturing, transformation, and longevity, Pia’s pieces are created to be held, used, and treasured future heirlooms that carry stories and memory across generations.
